@bosniancroats: Blessed Katarina Kosača Kotromanić the Queen of Bosnia never forgotten by her people, Croats of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who remember her for centuries. She became a symbol of hope, resistance, and faith but also the biggest tragedy Bosnia and Herzegovina ever endured - the Ottoman invasion and the fall of the Bosnian Kingdom in 1463. She herself had to flee the country. During her fleeing out of Bosnia the Ottomans abduct both of her young children and convert them. She experienced what hundreds of generation of women will experience likewise after her. She flees to Rome where she advocates for the liberation of her homeland. She never stopped mourning over the loss of her children. In Rome on October 25th 1478 she passes away, never seeing her children again. Among Croats of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who are the direct descendants of those who did not convert and assimilate, she is rememberd as a good and devout Queen who cared about her people. #katarina #bosnia #History #croatian #culture
