@natgeotv: Before the legend of “ghost elephants” in Angola’s highlands, there was Henry—the largest elephant ever recorded, killed for trophy hunting and now preserved in Smithsonian history. His size shaped scientific understanding and still echoes in today’s search for what may remain hidden. #GhostElephants

Saint Eve :

this story pisses me off

Mrs.GingerSnap :

Shame instead of taking pictures and letting this majestic animal breed and live out it's life. Human nature is to destroy it. Saddens my heart...

breindelacruz :

sad to know it was killed.

call_me_pasha :

every beautiful thing eventually killed by humans we are such a shame

amyrandle966 :

Look at old books of African elephant herds from early-mid 20th century. The herds were much bigger and so many of them had larger tusks than seen today. It’s a shame all the hunting & habitat loss has altered them noticeably.

animals life :

Poor elephant 🐘 🥺

Nicole :

user9542925231943 :

Mark Valentine :

Wasn't Jumbo, who was hit by a train, the biggest?

Bleeds-for-Gold :

His death may be tragic, but Henry steals the show in the Smithsonian. I've visited 7 times in my life since I was a kid, and he never ceases to amaze me once I see him.

joe_m_w :

Gets absolutely bodied by a below average Trex

Jonah John :

Sarcastic_therapsid :

That’s the biggest modern elephant. But the largest species of Palaeoloxodon rivalled even Paraceratherium in size.
