Stalins military purges weren't the reason WW2 was won, it was the reason it was nearly lost. He eliminated 60% of his marshals and a significant amount of high ranking officers in the red army; this meant Stalin couldn't fight Germany immediately in 1939 because he had lost most of his military with any experience or intelligence. Also Kamenev and Zinoviev ( the first show trial victims) weren't loyal to Trotsky, the literally formed the troika to put Stalin in power.

The military purges actually crippled the USSR in the early days of the war and were one of the main reasons Germany got as close to Moscow as they did 😭 all of these slides r just wrong
