the needle came out of my arm the one and only time I donated plasma. blood does squirt. lady went to prick my other arm and hit something that made my arm spasm and fly up. couldn't lift my arm higher than my chest for 2 weeks and had a giant bruise

girl I'm so sorry you went through that wth, I'm a phlebotomist at a plasma donating center and the way they handled that was so unprofessional and not helpful. I've personally never donated plasma but I could only imagine how scary it is from the donors perspective. at my center we want to encourage the people to allow us to try their other arm especially to get your red cells back and fluids because it will make the person feel better but yeah if a person tells us no we can't force them. handling the way they did definitely doesn't help because you lose the trust of the patient. what you got was a hematoma (I'm guessing you know by now since it's been a week) and it's the collection of red blood cells outside of the vein underneath the skin so it causes bruising. but it can feel like crazy pressure and look gnarly. Glad you're speaking out about saying something if anything is off, glad you're okay!

I had a horrible experience donating plasma and it was 100% because of the people working there. It was like it was everyone’s first day doing it. And they were so rude. Never again.

oh bro i have a story about donating plasma 😭😭😭😭😭 it was my first time ever i’ve never even given blood my machine failed stopped working i never got fluids and i threw up all over the nurse 😅🤣 and i wrote it all down on notes

I passed out donating plasma, they were trying to wake me up for 5 minutes and was about to call 911 on me but they did the sternum rub for like 2 minutes and it eventually woke me up.

Theres no needle in your arm its a catheter. A small piece of plastic. There only a needle when they first prick you and then it comes out immediately. Its just to get your catheter in the vein.

Previously was a Phlebotomist at a Plasma Donation Center, what happened was your Infiltrated. That means there could’ve been a clot when getting your blood back and instead of going in your vein (blood) it was going outside of your vein into your skin which causes your arm to get that golf ball bump. You might bruise for the next few days! Apply heat and ice daily💓❤️🩹

they probably blew your vein I used to donate all the time but if you get someone that dose not have vary much experience it's going to happen your arm is also probably going to bruise pretty bad

When an infiltration happens I always cringe because it looks like it hurts. I had it happen with fluid one time in my arm. Also I learned that it happens more when they put the needle on the inside of the elbow.

Years ago I told a nurse my arm was burning and she told me “it’s just the medicine” I woke up the next morning with my arm looking “Professor Clumpish” the new day Nurse said “honey you should’ve said something” 🤨 maam I did! Anywho I had a lot of heat and cold presses that day 😏
