the simulation idea sounds so smart but it's pointless. if you can't leave the simulation, this IS your reality. there is no other, you have to keep on playing the game.

If you begin with the premise of “God is perfect” then one must assume perfection consists of not “needing” anything since you are already “perfect”.
With that being said, then what was the purpose of our creation? If God was already “perfect” then what “need” did He have to create life in his image? Was He bored, curious, lonely, etc? If so then, it obliterates the concept of Him being perfect because if He was, then our creation would not have been needed. Perfection already assumes one is already satisfied since they are perfect.
If you want to believe God created us, then one must accept the fact that God is not perfect otherwise there could be no reason to create us.
Which then follows that if God is not perfect then it is possible His decisions and His actions are also not perfect.
I’m not arguing God does not exist, but I am pointing out that even if He does then He is not the perfect being that people try to make Him out to be…

I am literally living in constant agony feeling like every second forward in closer to death. Which to me is not existing ever again. Which is just insane for me to comprehend that this short life is it. Like the idea of not existing in a perspective where you think it’s all random and death is it. You really struggle with enjoying your present life. I’m literally an intern clinical mental health counselor and I’m going for a PhD in clinical psych just to see if I could learn how to cope with this ideology.

In any possible world, there either is a God or there isn’t. No middle ground exists.
Saying there is no God implies that the universe is the cause of its own existence.
If the universe is the cause of its own existence, then the universe is both uncreated and caused at the same time. This clashes with the law of excluded middle.
Belief in a supernatural beginning is not optional whether you’re atheist or a theist. The emergence of consciousness from matter is an impossibility. Also the laws of physics are not arbitrary. They are very specific to make life possible. One out of infinity mathmatical options specificity makes atoms function to allow chemistry and life. Material atheism is not rooted in objectivity and empiricism it is rooted in ignorance.

Also, simulations require energy. Even nested simulations still require the same amount of energy. Billions or trillions of simulations - where do you find the energy for all that? Not possible.

Some people saying that this is a waste of time are pretty spot on. I’ve struggled all my life with identifying with my personal experience and still do. It’s exhausting to feel so disconnected from “reality”. My family, my own personality and motivations, society and the environment are things that literally plague my thoughts daily and I have to manually interact with all of this stuff. It’s much easier to just live life, than question it. I’m envious of the people who can tbh bc this life is literally inescapable from your own point of view

the simulation argument doesn't even make sense as we can't simulate a world with our current technology so we either are the first world that hasn't reached that point or the first simulation a 50 50

Neil deGrasse Tyson makes a good point regarding the simulation argument. Each of the worlds in these simulation chains must be running its own simulation of another world, else the chain would not exist. However, we do not have such a simulation in our world (that we know of). There are only two worlds for which this applies, either the most recent simulation or the real world (start or end of the chain essentially). So the likelihood reduces from almost certain to 50/50, assuming you agree with the premise in the first place

I love the theory of ‘what if this morning was your very first morning’. That all your past never actually existed and you’ve just woken up for the first time with memories preloaded. Similar to a computer turning on each time, the computer doesn’t know it just got turned on but it has all its programming already installed, so it could believe it has always been on.

the biggest realization for me was when I became aware of my consciousness and that everything i experience is just made up of my own consciousness. then I realized there is actually no need for anything to be material at all. and science actually indicates that nothing is physical actually. so life is a dream. an eternal stream. in a quantum field. my own body is just appearing in my stream of consciousness. I think about this often.
