I’m a U.S. Navy vet and worked on the bridge. My first experience finding out just how fast those tankers can catch up to you was kinda scary. It’s sort of misleading because they look far away until they are not 😂

Many sailors have been ran down by trying to pass in front of big ships because of misjudging their speed. U usually don’t recognise the real speed before you get 50meters or closer to them, and by then it’s usually to late
