Yu-Gi-Oh printed cards that require 5 minutes and a magnifying glass to read, created so many new types of cards they had to redesign the playmat and more often than not it can take someone up to 20 minutes to play one turn.

As a longtime Yu-Gi-Oh! fan and former tournament duelist, there are a few reasons. From the show perspective, the first three series — Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters, Yu-Gi-Oh! GX, and Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D’s — were honestly peak. After that the series kept introducing new mechanics and the shows started getting more complicated. The same thing happened with the card game. As Yu-Gi-Oh evolved it became extremely complex and very fast paced. Ironically the game got more complicated but also easier because modern decks can combo so much that strategy sometimes feels less important. Meanwhile Pokémon kept things simple. The anime formula stayed consistent — collect gym badges, battle the champion, catch Pokémon. Even the Pokémon Trading Card Game stayed easier to learn compared to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, which made Pokémon more accessible to new players and younger fans. Yu-Gi-Oh kept evolving and getting more complex. Pokémon stayed simple and approachable.

The cards are reprinted with the same art also no unique full arts or anything. The anime also stopped with yugi a long time ago.

what u mean yugioh is still played Pokemon is a collectors market only relevant in ccg because of collectors which is making people who actually want to play impossible for them. yugioh just doesn't have an anime. but the TCG is still very alive

Pokemon has tons of media you can interact with whereas Yu-Gi-Oh only really has like 2 of them tops, and theyre both card games. ones just online whereas the other is physical
