@sacramentourbanmedia916: Nearly a year after Ruben Ray Martinez, a 23-year-old U.S. citizen, was shot and killed by a federal immigration agent, his mother is still searching for answers and urging reforms. The shooting happened on March 15, 2025, on South Padre Island, Texas. At the time, authorities did not publicly reveal that the officer involved was connected to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). According to reports, that information only became public last month, prompting renewed attention to the case. Martinez’s mother, Rachel Reyes, says she wants transparency about the circumstances that led to her son’s death. While speaking to CBS News, she also noted that she voted for Donald Trump in the 2024 election and does not hold the president personally responsible. Reyes said she does not blame Trump because he “wasn’t the one who pulled the trigger.” However, she believes the situation highlights the need for changes in how immigration agents operate, particularly when it comes to accountability and the use of force. More than anything, Reyes says she wants a clear explanation of what happened and why agents believed deadly force was necessary. She insists she struggles to accept that her son posed a threat. “I’m not denying reality,” Reyes explained. “I’m a mother with serious doubts, because I knew my son and I don’t believe he was dangerous.” As questions about the shooting continue to grow, Reyes says her focus remains on uncovering the truth behind the incident and pushing for reforms that could prevent similar tragedies.#fyp #viral
