Follow the FODMAP food chart, I dare say certain foods will cause flare ups. Very plain and boring food but keep a diary and slowly introduce stuff one by one to see what he can tolerate!

Is he having abdominal migraines? Is that something they have ruled out? I had pains like this when I was a kid and I was soooo sick for months and that’s what I was diagnosed with. I can now only eat specific foods as some things trigger it!

Have you had him checked for pancreatitis? I have inherited pancreatitis I get attacks every few months it honestly takes a toll on you and mine isn’t from drinking and smoking because I don’t do either I inherited it from family it honestly sucks

It took 15 years of my mum taking me to doctors and specialists and different gastroenterologists to be diagnosed with ulcerative colitis and delayed gastric emptying syndrome. Both of these caused me a lot of round the clock pain :( I hope you and your family get answers soon!

My brother had this around this age and doctors treated him the same, caused by anxiety and stress. His bodies way of having a panic attack. No one ever helped he eventually grew out of it but still at 23 when stress is bad it comes back. I really hope he gets some help as it was heartbreaking watching my brother go through it. All the very best.

I hate that I can relate to this. My daughter has been going through horrific right hand side lower abdominal pain since January 2025. I’ve had to fight for months to get someone to listen to me. I ended up being forced to take her to a paediatric gastroenterologist in Westmead to get help. She’s finally booked in for endoscopy and colonoscopy on the 27th. I’m so sorry you’re going through something similar. I just want you to know you’re not alone 🫶🏻

Go get him a massage or chiropractor and see if there’s a different. Maybe he is sleeping wrong and it’s hurting his insides. Sounds weird but it might be an Avenue to look into

I have chronic pain caused by FND. It hasn't gotten better, you just adjust to the new normal. Its a daily sometimes hourly battle but you do what you can.

Has he been worked up for CRPS (chronic regional pain syndrome). I know it is a hard diagnosis to obtain but I would absolutely look into this and travel if needed. Your family is in my prayers and that the doctors find a solution
