i actually think looking within the tree for geometry, religion, philosophy, etc. does make it more beautiful. if we find something so ineffably beautiful that we feel the need to examine it — to take time out of our finite lives to try to understand it, simply because it’s beautiful — then i’d argue that makes it MORE beautiful. beauty is subjective. we see beauty because we apply meaning to that beauty. is it not possible for a humble tree to grow in beauty because we have tried to discover WHY she ignites such awe within us?
