In all honesty, this might just be splitting hairs, but I think this mindset really helped me throughout my fitness journey in terms of ultimately staying consistent/ seeing progress during my recomp: Being on a diet VS being in a slight calorie deficit When I was focused on the concept of dieting, I would demonize certain foods, follow super structured plans (keto, juice cleanses, etc.) and honestly became SO obsessive with food. Everything felt very black and white. There were “good” foods and “bad” foods, foods I was “allowed” to eat and foods I wasn't and one meal that didn't fit the plan could make me feel like I had completely messed up. It was a bunch of rules I HAD to follow for X amount of time. And while the actual difference between “dieting” and a slight deficit might be pretty small, I think the FRAMING made such a huge difference for me. Instead of completely overhauling my life, being in a calorie deficit meant I would eat pretty similarly to how I already ate, just with some smarter swaps and more intentional portions. And ANYTHING can fit into your deficit with the right portions. I didn't have to stop eating out, cut out carbs, never have dessert or make completely separate meals from everyone around me. I could still eat the foods I actually enjoy while working toward my goals. For me, that shift made food feel SO much less complicated. It stopped being about “how perfect can I make my diet?” and became more about “how can I make this fit into my actual life?” free body recomp guide && 1:1 coaching in bio #petitegymgirl #asiangymgirl #bodyrecomposition #skinnyfat
