Hi, someone with a degree here: Never go to sleep angry used to be viewed as great advice, however, it has pivoted. Instead, going to sleep angry might actually be better for you. If you’re tired staying up until 2:00 am fighting, it is much better to just go to bed than stay up to resolve it. You will feel better in the morning when you’re rested, fed, and it gives you time to think so you don’t say something in the moment you regret. When you resolve the next evening, hold each other’s hands or have physical contact to remember you have a connection with this person, and have a conversation when you aren’t tired, hungry, or overwhelmed. A healthy relationship can have an argument, spend some time away from each other, and still come back and have a conversation when they’re in a better headspace. I do see your points in this video, however, current research does point a different direction.

Coming from someone in the healthiest relationship of my life, ignoring each other for 3 hours and taking the time we need to process the argument is 100% the best course of action for our relationship. Never go to bed mad and sleep in the same bed. You’ll wake up healed in the morning

Both partners can take time for themselves to regulate themselves again before coming together and talking (not shown in the video) instead of one party caving. Communication is key people. During arguments it’s ok to say you need some alone time to breathe then both come back calmer and more logical

Whenever my husband and I get in an argument we only last max 30 minutes until we catch each others eyes and start bursting into laughter at how ridiculous we both were

We try not to go to bed upset <3 it takes a lot to face your partner after an argument but it’s worth working through if you truly love them ❤️

Most people don’t realize that love is a choice you can choose to stay mad and give up or you can choose to forgive them apologize and make up

nah bc if it’s a real argument i don’t want you sneaking up and touching me i’ll just end up getting more mad and it’ll escalate the argument. it’s better to take some time apart and retry

No because me and my man can’t stay mad at each other, we’ll have this heated ass argument, and the moment we are around each other, we either smile and give it away, I always try so hard not to smile and be “mad” but he always smiles at me and makes me smile when I’m supposed to be mad at him 🤣🤣🤣

i’ve had this rule forever. even during long distance and over something tiny. going to sleep mad at someone can lead to resentment over time

Nope not always. Ya'll should be able to remain respectful of each other. A lot of times fights are CAUSED by being tired and ya'll r gonna fight till 5am. Go to bed, cool down, and forgive each other the next morning. Just remain respectful the whole time.

My partner and I tend to fight out the problem and like 98% of the time end up calming down during it and figure out some solution to whatever we were upset about.
