Deer never let their guard down. That’s also how people mess up making a long shot with a bow. Deer are more aware of their surroundings than we can fathom, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve slipped through the woods thinking I was quiet and step wrong and jump deer at a couple hundred yards. Deer are in constant survival mode at least the ones that live a few years, they have to be ready any and all times of day. We are not their only predator
