Meanwhile, ancient structures have stood strong for thousands of years, and we still don’t fully understand how some of them were built to endure so long. Honestly, it makes me wonder if we didn’t move forward as much as we think—maybe in some ways, we’ve actually gone backwards.

Raga, all’inaugurazione del Colosseo, nell’80 d.C., sotto l’imperatore Tito, pare siano state organizzate delle naumachie (finte battaglie navali). Niente squali, alligatori ecc.. era una farsa per intrattenere, durata qualche anno. Con Domiziano venne costruito il sottosuolo (ipogeo), con gallerie, montacarichi, botole per animali e scenografie.
