sometimes money trees will have rubber bands wrapped around the base, which will eventually suffocate and kill the plant.

Ahhhh I hate this term. However thank you for correctly describing and explaining what it is with regards to FOLIAGE plants. Unfortunately this term has snuck us way into the orchid world where we use a coir peat plug and it’s beneficial to growing young orchids. Also the idea that you take the orchid home and re pot immediately is terrible advice for new orchid growers. Lots of learning to do in the plant world. Keep up the great work 🌸💗🌱

My philodendron Billie had one of these and there was no growth for months, I just took it off last week and it’s already put out new growth!

I've found soooo many death plugs after my plants die! I now repot every plant I buy as soon as I get it home.
