Exactly!!! I’ve done it all… and still struggle with alcohol… I’m not giving up! I’ve been clean for 7 years except alcohol… I thought cuz it is legal than it was ok… def not!

As someone who has suffered from lifelong depression, I find happiness comes in small pieces. That sourdough toast I ate for breakfast. My cat rubbing her face on mine. A hug from a friend. I have always been mystified by people who say they feel happy or content all the time. I feel like a lot of people in this world spend time looking for that—a permanent state of happiness. They think if they just get something—more money, the right partner, the right job, etc, that they, too, can be HAPPY. But disappointment invariably comes because as human beings we have short attention spans and are constantly evolving. Yesterday’s “perfect job” becomes boring. The money you thought would buy you happiness? Is never enough. So to me, at age 51, who has had a rough life, my advice is..enjoy the little things. That is where true joy lies. And try to squeeze in as many of those moments into your life as you can. Peace✌🏻

Once I stopped seeking happiness, I found peace. And realized that happiness is fleeting and it was actually peace I needed all along. Just my experience.

I personally read somewhere happiness will always be unattainable so to look for moments of joy. when you find those moments of joy, it keeps you in the present.

Eric. Thank you for this very poignant video. I have been sober 5years. The sobriety brings clarity. Clarity for me was realizing Since the day I was born (not a dramatic statement) I have been living in Survival mode. I am happy to be Sober. The pain of discovering my entire Life has been a never ending cycle of Systemic Family Abuse at 49. Not so great. 😒 However, Learning that It ACTUALLY is THEM has been freeing! I wish everyone & anyone well on their Journey!♥️

Your post made me cry in a good way, I’m proud of you. I’ve struggled with depression and addiction for yeearss. I was doing ok until I just recently lost my husband to an overdose. I’m trying very hard to stay sober, your words mean a lot, thank you. It’s nice to feel a little less alone😊🩷
