You don’t have to tip for counter service. If you’re doing Chipotle, Starbucks, or Subway, those kinds of places you don’t have to tip, though there’s usually a tip jar on the counter yet if you want to throw in a dollar. They aren’t paid the way wait staff is. You do tip at sit down restaurants and services like salons, massage therapists, and tattoo artists.

yeah, at a lot of restaurants servers have to "tip out" a certain percentage of their food and drink sales to other members of staff, so if you don't tip, they still have to tip out that percentage of the food and drink you ordered out of tips they received from other guests

tipping culture is to combat the companies underpaying staff. other countries include the tip cost with the food. us does not. 18%if they did a bad job (unless they yell at u or something extremely happens), 20% standard 22% outstanding service

My best friend Dad has semester in London and I sent her a little packets of salad dressing all the time because she said she got charged for extra napkins, salad dressing every little thing and no refills on any drinks

our service providers don't always make even minimum wage b/c their tips are considered part of their income. if you don't tip, they don't make money.

A big reason why we feel guilty about not tipping is that most waiters/servers basically survive on tips. The restaurant does not pay them the same wages as the rest of the staff.

Too many people don’t know that minimum wage for tipped workers in most of the US is $2.13. Obviously we end up making more, but all of that comes from tips not from the employer. It’s a shitty system rooted in the New Deal and 1930s racism

I don’t understand who makes these videos and is there a site you buy them from or on they just on socials. They are weird. In my experience as someone in the 🇺🇸 You should NOT ask for ketchup or condiments at a fancy restaurant with a farm to table makes everything from scratch style; they may not have ketchup condiments or it is rude when a chef makes food the way it should be eaten and it is seasoned, but other than fancy places yes you can ask for anything they have an they will give it to you but will usually charge some for dressings or more expensive condiments. Tips, bill 25.15 move the decimal 2.515 then double rounding up usually 5.00 but I would then make the bill an even dollar amount 25.15+5=30.15+0.85=$31.00 done. Move decimalX2 round if you want to keep it simple. Easy. Some servers in some states make like $3/hr or did (may have gone up federally) and they rely on the tips other states full minimum wag or more. So goodie server minim wage in each state and tip the low paying states more if you can and they are great. When you tip, which I wish would be done away with, it is also often tipped out for the chefs and dishwashers (they get a % of all tips) in a lot of places so I alway tip just not 20% if the service is bad, if the service is good but the food not good but not wrong I tip 20%. You are also supposed to tip movers, furniture delivery people (not from the mail), hair places, tattoo artists, or just about anyone doing a service for you. 20% is standard but if I buy a $700 tattoo that didn’t take very long to do, probably not 20% but it will be a 10-15% tip. If it took 6 hours, I will tip higher, depends. In some places some people tip and some don’t so most people then do the sly tip that is hand to hand and folded so that it is more private, like if someone helps you with your groceries to the car and loads them in. I tidy my spot spot and make sure I didn’t leave anything that would need more cleaning. Clean and 🗑️your mess at fast food. Gifts it depends on the situation. If you just give a gift for the fun of it most people would open it. At a party with a gift table, probably not. Both happen.
