Messi is far better than Ronaldo no question about it. But 100 years down the line people will start to focus more on records when talking about all time greats than they do about the players themselves. They'll moreso become numbers that later generations will see instead of players you go back and watch their greatness. Every generation thinks they've seen the greatest player of all time. Before Messi it was Maradona, and before Maradona it was Pele. If Ronaldo reaches the 1000 goal mark, which he most likely will, he would become the first player to do so, and people will forever remember him for being the first one, despite him not being better than Messi.

Messi is like 3 players rolled into one when it comes to creativity finishing set pieces Ronaldo scores goals yes but Messi does that at a better rate. Also when Ronaldo was at his peak it was at a stage where Messi was carrying the worst run Barca side in recent memory

people only created the “it was never a debate” narrative after 2022🤣 when in reality if you were there in 2018 you know ronaldo was the goat by then he had just 3 peated the ucl, had the better international career, his pl career, should have 3 peated the ballon dor (2016,2017,2018) they were both on 5 ballon dors by that point and ronaldo should have won his 6th but people just chose to ignore the past and act suddenly like it was “never a debate” its just so frustrating man

The Ronaldo being closer to Neymar thing is stupid but Messi will be remembered as the greatest of all time as he rightfully should be. People think of world cups when they think about older legends like pele, Maradona, muller etc, and unfortunately Ronaldo just wasn’t the greatest in the World Cup
