Cops didn’t have to jump to cuffing her that quickly … they could have calmly explained to her that bc they just found weed in the car that they have the legal right to search her bag - and that if she DIDNT cooperate that they would be forced to legally detain her. I DONT agree with cops NOT even ATTEMPTING de-escalation …. ESPECIALLY when it’s the DRIVER who was in trouble and she was an underaged passenger. A more experienced officer would have at least TRIED to use a firm, authoritative tone WITH legal explanation and conversation to avoid traumatizing an individual. I consider this an abuse of power and an OBVIOUS ego issue that just further ruins the general public’s trust in law enforcement. Even IF the girl ended up in cuffs, they didn’t even TRY to do it calmly and civilly … which I find difficult to watch ESPECIALLY considering the sudden switch of energy between how they were handling the driver vs his passenger. Just unnecessary in my opinion (ESPECIALLY since the cops literally have ALL THE POWER in these situations)
