Flooring is not a good DIY project. Its a lot more work than you think. Depending on how bad the floors are a lot of times is easier to just pay to have them done

Remodeling entire rooms whilst living in your house when you have kids is a different kind of hell. Just the set up/take down/clean up is like 2 hours of your day. Everyday.

my weekend DIY job. built a farm stand for my wife. still need to paint and put in shelves. used our existing privacy fence to build off of. my stress reliever is woodworking.

But on the DIY show I watched they repainted the kitchen cabinets, tiled the shower and installed a new boiler and the show was only a half an hour long 😂

I'd spend 10 weekends before I'd hire a contractor. Theres only two kinds of contractors 1 that doesn't know what he is doing but has the right price and 1 that knows what he is doing but charges 5 times what something is worth. And thus neither is worth it.

12 hours Saturday plus 12 hours Sunday. we can get 24 hours of work done. and there's 2 of us so it's really 48 hours. we're unstoppable

For working on my car I’ve found the magic number is 4, if the tutorial is 10 min, it’s 40 for me. If it’s an hour, it’s 4 for me. I’d imagine this would work with diy home repair, except i might go with a 10x multiplier 😂

Calculate your reasonable time and then multiple it by 3. If it's a multiple step project (e.g. bathroom remodel) then multiply it by 10.
