except they have mandated by law to have two pilots in the cockpit well into the future.

Horseshit…I’ve been flying since 1980…have heard this line of crap for over 46 years. AI will never replace the human in the loop…never.

Mind you ALPA is already against it and won’t allow it and Delta for example has in its contract that requires two people in the flight deck. Furthermore, EASA who was working with Airbus on this project is stepping away from their single pilot talk. If you’re young pursue it, stop taking advice like this that you set you back due to fear, it’s pricy like almost every big dream out there and NO you don’t necessarily have to go to the regionals, there are multiple ways to advance in aviation.

It would be very hard to trust a computer directly with hundreds of people in the plane, and unlimited liability of the plane crashing.

I would say in the next 30-40 years yes cargo unions have already written in there contracts single pilot or unmanned can’t happen.

Look at the Waymo cars, those thing are a hazard to the road. I cannot see pilots being replaced for a while

Will never be unmanned. Will see single crew pilot flying in cargo operations, if no accidents, and the NPC public buys off on the concept, then you’ll see single pilot ops at 121 pax carriers.

There aren’t even ongoing tests to achieve one pilot cockpit. Let alone no pilot. Don’t listen to this guy.

There’s never not going to be 2 pilots in a passenger plane. The pilots wouldn’t allow it

So let AI fly the plane and risk everyone’s lives even though AI still won’t be able to do aircraft mechanic work? Literally makes no sense

I just don’t buy this. Rules and regulations move like molasses. It’ll be 40+ years before it’s fully automated for commercial, unsure about cargo. But 10 years is highly optimistic.

Won’t be for at least 50 years imo. Even if the tech is good enough, passenger air will likely take ages to swap over because you’re asking 250 or so passengers to trust a computer with their life
