He had surely one of Chickenpox, rubella, scarlet fever, mumps, measles when he was child. Those viruses survive in the neck spine liquid and can cause shingles when above 50 years or have a longer time of hard stress. This is inflaming the nerve ends, and works like clipping off the switch for pain.
