For me it's the exact opposite I feel like. I'm very bad in short term planning due to executive dysfunction, therefor unable to reliably say what I will do on for example tuesday. But since I spend so much time in my own head, often daydreaming about the future, I can give you a chronological rundown of the tuesday in 10 years. Wake up in a house that doesn't exist yet, in bed next to my(current) partner, make breakfast for the imaginary family, go to the job i imagine id have. Its all very vivid and detailed. I could tell you the color of the blankets, whats in the fridge. But when you ask me what I currently have in my fridge, Id only be able to come up with an incomplete list. I'm not delusional, I know that my idea of the future is very optimistic and i don't expect thats exactly how it will happen. But its healthier then catastrophising or being pessimistic I think.

Hi, I'll give you my two cents. the thing about focusing on the future where you can actually have an impact, is that you sacrifice the present. then when that future moment comes you will keep using the same mechanism and sacrifice that future present.

how about a clever kid born in a prison consisting of multiple layers where very layer is more cursed than the next one, and these layers constantly change place.. Dad, society, himself, poverty, adhd and more. He has to survive by being on the survival mode while also being distracted, so he is only focused on the painful moment instead of creating a "better next moment" I'm on autopilot, and the steering system is hacked.
