That’s such a great tip because career fairs really give you a chance to sell yourself beyond just what’s on paper. I’ve been attending as many as I can, and as a non-traditional student transitioning from banking into accounting with 13 years of banking experience, I make sure I mention that in every conversation. That experience has been helping me pivot into different directions and get on people’s radar in ways I didn’t even expect. So yes, career fairs definitely matter.

My advice is if you find accounting too recurring and a little boring (I was accounting undergrad) try pivoting to finance / FP&A. Still recurring work but more involvement across the enterprise 😁
