hydroxyzine didnt calm me down at all, nor did it make me tired, but it did make it impossible for me to wake up the next day about half the time. bad fit for me. have you tried any beta blockers?

It made me relaxed and slowed and then I fell asleep after I ate my subway. They watched me at the ER to see how I’d react

That shit put me to sleep and kept me groggy the next day. Definitely hits differently depending on the body.

I’ve been on it for 2 years now 25mg. It definitely helps with anxiety for me. At first it made me real sleepy though and now I have insomnia at nighttime and sleep all day the next day.only reason I haven’t came off of it is my doctor said I’ll have withdrawals so now I’m scared to stop taking it 😞

I think that's an extremely uncommon reaction. Although, hydroxyzine is a diphenylmethylpiperazine which is a class of drugs that can cause stimulant effects. You probably have some weird metabolic genotype that activates it :)

I was on quetiapine (seroquil I think) and honestly it was so helpful. But I was taking it as an anti psychotic but I had no anxiety and honestly felt so chill all day. I was taking a mood stabilizer at the same time but I can’t recall what it was called. But I would 10/10 recommend quetiapine, actually I will say I was super groggy most of the day and slept a lot.

it’s normal with some of these meds when you’re getting used to it. i used to have crazy anxiety before it started working (which took like a month)

Do you have restless leg (RLS)? Some meds can exacerbate that and ruin sleep. Also there is something called paradoxical effect but it has weak evidence and maybe no studies where clinicians report ADHD patients becoming energized instead of drowsy

hey not a doc but sometimes antihistamines such as hydroxyzine can make you feel stimulated rather than drowsy/relaxed hope this helps friend

I would say go back to taking how much she tells you, otherwise when you tell her it’s not working she might just say because it’s “not the right dosage”, but yeah try taking the normal amount for awhile, then talk to her again and report it’s not working, not every medication works the same for everyone
