Nat | Architectural Designer :
Stone feels more natural (different shapes, scales, textures) whereas concrete always feels manmade. Stone offers more visual interest. It's pleasing to the eye. And it still feeling connected to nature (maybe almost a biological connection?)

You forgot it’s because some our ancestors were born of stone beyond the misty mountains and we hope to return there someday.

I would think it’s subconsciously about feeling the safety in a weighty building versus just thinking it was important

I thought about texture first, it makes things look more interesting and a plain wall looks boring. Love your content

Buildings with visual weight make us feel safe and sturdy. This is the natural nature of animals as a place of shelter. Why do rocks feel heavier even though concrete is stronger? I think it's just because we've been used to it for thousands of years, the brain still thinks rocks feel stronger.

Also, Complexity: there are many more ways to “describe” a stone wall than a smoothed surface concrete wall , it gives us more to look at , captures our attention. Like comparing a richly embroidered dress with a plain gown

I prefer stone over concrete as it feels more reassuring that with a mix of stone it is less likely to decay than something made out of a single substance. Not sure that's clear.

I like it cause it looks safer than a wooden house. And stone texture and visuals are more pleasant :)

also scale. a larger stone "appears" visually heavier than something smaller like a brick. rough cut vs uniform plays too.

thank you for helping me understand why I can't stand faux stone siding. it lacks visual weight despite the effort and it irks my soul
