This is going to totally out me as a nerd, but my favorite part of any class is reading the syllabus because I always want to know what topics we will be covering and what activities we will be doing. Also, I’m a perfectionist and need to know the grading components, lol.

also funny story- i had a physics professor who ALWAYS signed off with “May the odds be ever in your favor.” One day, i emailed her to ask about my bad midterm grade- she signed off with “May the gods have mercy” 😂

hot take but I love the quiet students who come to ask questions during office hours or after class. they're almost always really well thought out and they put some effort into thinking it through themselves before asking. not saying nobody should ask questions in class, but man some of the things I've heard in recent years in class has me seriously concerned. you can only error frame so much as an instructor

First year of college, doing an assignment and couldn’t remember the professors name and just saying professor sounded weird to me, so I said Sir!! 🤣🤣 he never forgot my name the whole year!!!

I just try and be kind and helpful when I can, my professors are like my family, I'm going to be with then for a good while longer, why would I not be nice to them? I dont want them not liking me my entire degree. it also helps that they are genuinely good people to whom I respect very much!

I totally agree with being impressed when students show professionalism in their emails. I also love it whenever a student comes by to my office hours. Ask a question, don’t ask a question, sit and have a coffee, find a way to make yourself more than just a student ID and a set of homework.

I’m guessing professors also appreciate conciseness in the emails. 😂 I remember as a freshman I’d make it super professional but also super long because I wanted to show effort.
