Having engaged in a formal amends process over the last years I can attest to this. Actual amends end with the statement, “ Did I cover everything or am I leaving something out?”. Sometimes an amend is never darkening that persons door again.

Exactly, forgiving someone now puts some of the blame on yourself especially if the issue happens again. No one deserves your forgiveness, but I'll take it further. You don't owe anyone anything. It's your life, live it how you want it.
