My daughter is deaf. She hasn't had cochlear implant surgery yet, and we haven't seen the effect of her hearing aids yet either. If she doesn’t get ear infections or any other problems in April, she will be able to have a video scan. Depending on the results, we can take the first step toward surgery. Your family gives me a lot of hope. I haven’t learned sign language yet, and my 2-year-old daughter is still learning too, but we will keep doing our best. You and your family truly motivate me. Thank you so much. Your journey gives me strength and hope for our future.

I gotta say I am still surprised by the people who assume a person with hearing loss wearing a tool, a device to help hear a little better makes them think we don't need to sign anymore!!! ASL is part of our language, who we are as individuals. When we take our CIs off or our hearing aids off we go back to hearing almost nothing at all if anything. I hope people can understand that even WITH devices, we still CANT hear it all. We miss so much. Our eyes rely on communication and ASL helps us through it

And there are times we have to take the coke implants off for the kids to go to bed and you communicate with them, or if they had a bad dream on communicate with them. The processors break and you want to be able to communicate with your child during the days a weeks that it might take to get the new processor. Plus, coconut implants cannot produce clear sound
