Honestly I've had the exact conversation with a student who told me at the last minute. They didn't even tell me they wanted ME to do. All he said was that he needed a recommendation but will ask around before he settled on me. Cut to 2 months later, he didn't ask any teacher, he didn't ask me, and was barely starting his application that same day.

To be fair, if a letter writer hasn’t submitted the letter and the deadline is approaching, it absolutely is normal (and expected) that you will remind them. Ultimately, whether the submission is received or not depends on the applicant.

No, because why did one of my teachers lose one of my friends tests and didn’t tell her that she lost it and told her that she never took it and try to make her retake a whole test when it was a test we took at the beginning of a quarter and then proceeded to make my friend look for her test all around the classroom
