Geneology results are often updated so it’s not necessarily set in stone. Like ten years ago my 23 and me said I was approx half Irish and half Ukrainian but it changed the past year to half British half Hungarian lol

The DNA tests get a little wonky especially for regions that are newer or don’t necessarily have a distinct genetic composition. Like, for example, my father’s side is from North Macedonia, but there’s no North Macedonian genetic group. So, my results were really unexpected because my highest percentages (aside from 39% Southern Italian which is from my mom’s side) was 16% Southern Greece and 15% Romania. It’s like I know the block of land my ancestors came from, but that block of land doesn’t really have a distinct ethnic group attached to it.

the popular dna test companies we have dont have that much information on my region especially in the modern era and are pro isreali (theres proof with middleeasterners especially palestinians being put as other things than where theyre from in order to push the propaganda that palestinians arent canaanite/indigenous to palestine). and bc of those 2 things I have to look at the ancient dna results to get the actual answers and surprisingly myheritage ancient dna told me and so did illustrativedna ancient results. my palestinian ancestors were christian, my egyptian ancestors were coptic, i have amazigh origins from morocco/algeria, and I know what parts of india Im from too bc Im very mixed

I'm adopted. i was told i have a biological grandfather that immigrated to the US from Ireland. only 5% Irish, not even. comparatively I'm like 25% Scottish and 50% English. it's wild how all this works.

Keep in mind, these services are only as accurate as their sample size. Various communities are underrepresented bc they are reluctant to give their blood to a data warehouse, and certainly unwilling to pay to do so.

I was not who I thought i was either 😭 I was raised by a dad who said we were Italian for some reason, then after the testing came back he had to begrudgingly admit we were Native American 😭😭 I have NO idea why he was hiding that to this day 😭✌️
