@marisadventuresinjapan: The teamLab Biovortex Kyoto, which opened in late 2025, is currently Japan's largest teamLab museum. It is located just a 7–10 minute walk from the Hachijo Exit (South Exit) of Kyoto Station. 👉 Here are the essential tips for visiting: 1. Booking & Logistics 🎟️ • Book in Advance: Tickets frequently sell out weeks ahead, especially for weekends. You must book a specific date and time slot online (you can get your ticket on Klook and use my discount code MARIJAPANKLOOK 🥰) • Best Time to Visit: Aim for the first morning slot or an evening slot (after 5:00 PM) to avoid the heaviest crowds. It is a great "after-hours" activity since it stays open until 9:00 PM, long after most temples in Kyoto have closed. 🕕 • Time Commitment: The space is massive (10,000 sqm). Allow at least 2.5 to 3 hours to explore all four floors without rushing. 🙌 2. What to Wear • Avoid Skirts: Many rooms have mirrored floors. If you wear a skirt or dress, wear leggings or shorts underneath (though rental shorts are usually available if you forget). • Wear Light Colors: White or light-colored clothing acts as a "canvas" for the digital projections, making for much better photos. 📸 • Shoes Matter: You will be doing a lot of walking and some climbing in the "Athletics Forest." Flat, closed-toe shoes are required. High heels and sandals are not allowed in the athletic areas (rental sneakers are available if needed). 👞 3. Inside the Museum • Download the App: Get the teamLab app before you enter. It provides a map of the maze-like space and allows you to interact with several of the artworks (like changing the colors of the lamps). • The "Bubble Room" Warning: In the Massless Amorphous Sculpture area, you will be surrounded by soap-like bubbles. They can make your clothes slightly damp; some visitors choose to buy a raincoat/shoe covers (approx. 300 yen) at the entrance to this specific room. • Lockers: Free lockers are available for small bags and coats. Large suitcases should be left at Kyoto Station, as large-item storage at the museum is limited. 4. Food & Facilities 🍕 • Eat Beforehand: There are no cafes or restaurants inside the museum, and re-entry is not allowed. Because you'll be active for 3 hours, it’s best to have a meal before arriving. • Vending Machines: There are vending machines inside for hydration, but no solid food. 5. Accessibility & Restrictions • Strollers: These are not allowed inside the exhibition. You will need to park them in the designated area and carry infants. • Wheelchairs: The museum is generally wheelchair accessible, though some specific installations in the Athletics Forest may be restricted for safety. Location for your map: • Name: teamLab Biovortex Kyoto • Address: 21-5 Higashikujohigashiiwamotocho, Minami-ku, Kyoto (South of Kyoto Station) #kyoto #teamlab #biovortex
