@thecamvault: OFFICER BADLY INJURED AFTER BEING THROWN FROM SEMI WHAT SHOULD THE PUNISHMENT BE FOR THROWING AN OFFICER FROM A MOVING SEMI? A man jumps into a semi-truck after a heated argument at an IHOP… and minutes later a police officer is thrown from the moving truck, bones shattered, as the suspect barrels onto the highway and starts ramming police cars. Newly released body-camera footage shows the terrifying moment a Springfield Township police officer was thrown from a semi-truck during a chaotic encounter that began with a disturbance call at an IHOP in Akron, Ohio. Police say the incident started around 6 p.m. Saturday when customers called 911 reporting a man inside the restaurant screaming and yelling profanities at a waitress he was reportedly in a relationship with. The man was later identified as Jeffrey Latson, who authorities say had driven from Tennessee after receiving a phone call from the employee. When officers arrived, investigators say Latson got into a white semi-truck cab with no trailer and drove behind a nearby Walmart. An officer working security blocked the truck, worried about Latson’s behavior and concerned about letting the semi back onto the road. Police say Latson refused repeated commands to turn off the vehicle and step out. Two officers climbed onto the running boards of the truck in an attempt to remove him. That’s when everything escalated. Body camera footage captures officers shouting “Stop the truck!” and “You’re going to get shot!” as Latson allegedly put the truck into drive. One officer was able to jump off safely, but another officer was violently thrown from the moving semi, suffering two broken bones in his leg. Latson then drove onto Interstate 77, triggering a police pursuit. Officers eventually ended the chase because of the danger the large truck posed to other drivers. Later, Akron police located the semi in a parking lot on East Market Street. Authorities say Latson began ramming multiple police cruisers and civilian vehicles. At that point, two Akron officers fired their weapons, striking him. A Summit County Sheriff’s deputy also fired during the confrontation. Latson was transported to the hospital with injuries believed to be non-life-threatening. Police say he now faces multiple charges, including assault on a law enforcement officer and aggravated menacing. Springfield Township Police Chief Jack Simone called the incident “infuriating” and said it highlights the extreme dangers officers face in the field every day. SHOULD SOMEONE WHO USES A 40,000-POUND TRUCK AGAINST POLICE BE CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED MURDER? #mustwatch #dashcam #police #crime #xyzbca
