I worked on the main span from 20’ below water to 650’ above. Safest most amazing bridge in Florida. The foundations has 20.000 yards of concrete on one side and 12.000 yards on the other. Single pour of 32.000 yards.

when its was built, it was the longest cable-stayed bridge in the western hemisphere. Locals used to be call it the "bridge to nowhere." now 77,000 vehicles use it every day. It was built by the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA).

Dad was in flight school at Naval Air Station Jacksonville when World War Two broke out. He decided to go out to the beach and said there were no bridges and he had to take a ferry!

I’m there is an accident on that bridge ever once a week. Cause people go 60 mph to take photos in left lane. And that bridge is over the trout river
