@meghannmcuniff: Cody Wright owned C&E Stone Masonry in Utah with his friend Eric Richins before Richins died of a fentanyl overdose in March 2022. Richins' wife, Kouri Richins, is accused of murdering her husband by slipping a fatal dose of fentanyl into a cocktail she made for him. She also is accused of attempting to murder him weeks earlier in Valentine's Day. Her defense is that he died of a self-inflicted overdose and his family pressured police to implicate her because they don't want to accept that he was a secret drug addict. Wright testified this morning (Monday, March 9, day 10) in Richins' trial at the Silver Summit Justice Center near Park City. Brad Bloodworth, the chief criminal prosecutor in Summit County, questioned him in direct-examination. Wright's wife, Allison, testified earlier in trial that Kouri told her she felt “trapped” in her marriage. You can watch a clip of her testimony here @Meghann Cuniff, and you can find longer videos, including of Cody Wright's testimony, on my Facebook page and YouTube channel. "How did Eric react to illness or injury?" Bloodworth asked. "He's a cowboy. Eric is a go get him. He's not going to sit at home because he's sick. He's not going to stay home because he has COVID. He's not going to not show up because he's feeling under the weather. He's very tough, spirited, rough hearted," Wright answered. "Have you ever seen Eric use over the counter drugs?" Bloodworth asked. "No," Wright answered. "Have you ever seen Eric use prescription drugs?" Bloodworth asked. "No," Wright answered. "Have you seen ever seen Eric use illicit drugs?" Bloodworth asked. "I have never seen him use illicit drugs," Wright answered. Bloodworth asked Wright if he remembers "receiving a phone call from Eric at approximately 2 p.m. on Valentine's Day 2022?" "Yes," Wright answered. "Without saying what Eric said to you, why is it you remember that phone call?" Bloodworth asked. "The fear in his voice. The urgency of the situation. The seriousness of what was going on," Wright answered. "Had you ever heard Eric sound like that before?" Bloodworth asked. "The only other times I heard that urgency and that fear was when he called me telling me that his mother was had passed away in the hospital," Wright answered. "I also heard that urgency or that fear when he had been rear ended in an accident, and he feared that the person that had hit him had passed away as well, or had hit him hard enough that he was scared of what had just happened." "Thank you, sir. I don't have any further questions," Bloodworth said. You can watch Eric Richins' friend Joshua Kaze testiify about a similar call here @Meghann Cuniff. Prosecutors are expected to rest their case against Richins this week, then her attorneys will call witnesses. #law #crime #court #jury

I believe him. But if Erick was thinking his wife was going to poison him, why on earth did he drink that Moscow beverage? If I thought my husband was wanting to poison me, I would not drink or eat from a something he brought me. So , why did Erick trust her that night?

He’s a good witness but his last answer where his voice trails off when asked if he ever saw Eric use elicit drugs is not good, possibly lying.

I made this comment on another post but I’m so surprised the prosecutor didn’t just ask him after the phone call was he worried for Eric and why. It’s not objectionable. Trust me guys I have watched law and order. (Jk I’m a trial lawyer)

What did Eric tell him? How come we can't know what was said? Frustrating.
