why is it so outrageous to tell you to read theory?? like if you wanted to understand a concept in depth you read a book about it, no? the principles of communism by engels is a good starting point for basics. also many communists are able to give you a definition, just look anywhere😭 for example communism is a political system in which workers own the means of production, private property is abolished and the end goal is for the state to wither away. but many people prioritise the socialist principles first rather than the end goal of a “classless, stateless, moneyless society” because economic inequality is the main concern . a lot of questions people have about these principles can also be answered by reading books on the very basics as they have been debunked many times but if you want to know the answers ask an actual communist or research it yourself

I believe every economic system works. Its just they have a limit. And I believe full communism can't work beyond the level of a mid sized town. And on the opposite end, capitalism is the best when used on a large scale like nation or international levels.

as a theoretical idea and concept, communism is a socio-economic system where there are NO social classes and no private property over the means of production, by which i mean things like factories, plants, and agricultural land. those should belong to the whole society. it WOULD be a good system because it tries to remove economic inequalities and stop the exploitation of workers (here i’m also referring to the communist manifesto, written by marx in 1848), and to make sure resources are shared by the community and that everyone has access to services that are essential in life: education and healthcare. it also focuses on social solidarity and cooperation instead of profit-based competition (capitalism), so production would mainly be aimed at meeting COLLECTIVE needs, not at individual accumulation of capital

I think the biggest thing you dont understand is that communism is the end goal. It doesn’t mean you suddenly take away the state. It means you advance socialism until the point when it is no longer needed. Communism might be 1000 years away but you keep improving society towards that goal.

the reason everyone tells you u dont know what communism is is because you are treating it like a political system when its an economic system that fits in what ever governmental structures are in that society. governments control things like police, public policy, welfare programs, ect. the economic system is just how money moves though that system. in communism money/resources are distributed to all people = since every one owns the means of production and everyone shares the profits from owning said means. lets say there was a shoe factory everyone owns a portion of it and what ever revenue it makes is split among the people since they each own a share. that can be enforced by an authoritarian government or a democratic government but it its self isint a form of government.

the biggest problem is it always depends on people being the best and kindest person they can be, its simply too optimistic for a society to function. the government has too much power, and gets too much influence over the people

Feudalism, capitalism, socialism(prestage of communism) and communism are names of something called relation of production. They answer 3 questions— who owns the mean of production, who works and who is in control of the production. In Capitalism, billionaires own the mean of production, control the the production( what and how many products being produced.) Workers/ working class work for wages. In socialism, prestage of communism, means of productions (tools, lands factories) owned by the public/state, Aka the people, workers or states the people controls the production for social needs not profit. People work collectively to satisfy everyone’s need not just the few people. Communism is the post stages of socialism, because the need, including self-actualization,

I’m not communist. But I wouldn’t be shocked if we reach a post scarcity society some of the Marxist ideas happen. One big point Marx had was this was a natural progression of society. Not something you can just implement

Communism is malleable, you're asking for a definition of a society that is long in the future and will certainly be vastly different to our current notions. Communism is a system in which economic classes have been abolished, to put it broadly (to allow for the fact that it will vary).

Communism is basically what happens to capitalism given enough time. As the means of production continue to be pulled away from the average worker, workers will eventually be replaced altogether. Farm hands were angry at cows for replacing their job tilling the field, horse breeders were angry at Ford for making cars, and now everyone who has a degree is mad that AI could replace their job. Eventually capitalism will innovate enough where people just aren’t needed, and the cost to produce a house, car, electricity is ultimately $0. Marx came from a time where service based work wasn’t really thought about or necessary, so his theory about manufacturing and production of materials was truly spot on. 95% of all manufacturing jobs were automated, but all those jobs were replaced with service jobs.
