I always wire my caliper up so it doesn’t hang on the hose but I also drop it a couple times in the process to test the hose

2 things sir. 1, You never hang a brake caliper from its flexible hose. 2 If one side of the axle is leaking, you can bet that the other side is not far behind, so replacing one seal is a false economy. I'm sure you would have explained this to the customer.

It’s so much worse than a drum break because it just builds up inside of there that is bad but the drum brakes on my jeep is so much worse and it’s not that hard to put rear end fluid in there on a Jeep anyway
