the MacBook Air m5 chip came out and it’s the same price as the m4, if you can, return it and get the m5

I ONLY, and I say it with all my heart: I only bought Neo because I just wanted something portable to be able do write essays anywhere and MAINLY because I already have a stupidly powerful computer (32GB, 2T, Rayzen 7, GTX 3060). I only needed Neo for editing documents anywhere I go since I’m a lawyer

I think the problem with this comparison is that of course the Air is better in every capacity. The Neo is not meant to stand up against the Air, it’s meant to be a more affordable and accessible Mac which means it will be downgraded to do that

MacBook Neo would probably be enough for majority of users unless you want to do serious gaming and video editing. It’s basically an iPad with a keyboard but has Mac OS.

Do not get the neo if you want to possibly do video editing.

This comparison is somewhat misleading. You’re essentially comparing two products that serve different purposes. It’s like comparing a Honda Civic to a higher-end car: yes, the other car may be better in absolute terms, but they are not designed for the same use case or the same budget. The same logic applies here—you can’t directly compare a MacBook Air with the Neo that sits in a completely different price category. What matters is whether the device fits the intended use. For the usage you described, the Neo is perfectly sufficient. It can run the tasks you mentioned and even handle some video editing. Given that you also said this machine is only meant to be a secondary system, it should meet your needs without any issue.

Me personally I’m keeping my Air M4. I plan to not buy another laptop for at least 10yrs it’s fast it’s lightweight great battery and can handle the load. The Neo is cool for the price, but will it sustain time? I say if you already got the Air just keep it.

You already spent the money. Return and get the M5 Air. Or return the M4 and get a Neo, an iPad and a pencil for less than the Air
