Younis Mohsen is a contemporary Iraqi colloquial poet who belongs to a new generation of young poets who have gained recognition through poetry gatherings, literary platforms, and social media. He writes primarily in the Iraqi dialect, and his poetry focuses on themes such as love, separation, longing, disappointment, and romantic relationships. Among the works circulated under his name is the poem “Al-Taqeena,” which carries a narrative and melancholic tone, along with various emotional verses that have spread across Iraqi popular poetry pages. One of the most distinctive aspects of his style is that he does not rely solely on traditional poetic imagery. Instead, he often leans toward storytelling, vivid scenes, and everyday details, making some of his poems feel like a personal experience or a short story narrated in the Iraqi dialect. The image I sent is of the poet himself, as he appeared in one of the widely circulated poetry clips.
