@celebratingsecondary: 1 of my favorite novels to teach in high school English #englishteachers #englishteacher #highschoolteacher #reading #elateacher
Long way down by Jason Reynolds. My alternative kids loved it! They even read ahead to see what happened. We had lots of opinions about the ending. It made for great classroom discussions!

The perks of being a wallflower. The kids love it and it opens up great discussions about how teens communicate with each other/adults

We do classics, 1984, slaughterhouse five, 451, studies show the classics build a better cognitive function, I’m also an editor and in the past twelve years pub lit has went down in quality.

I miss the excitement of introducing new texts to my high schoolers. I wish so badly I was still allowed to.

We are actually looking for some decent modern literature for our students. We keep going back to books like The Outsiders, which I know is pretty dated, but the kids still like it.
