@dr.dan_dpt: The ending was a bit of a joke for all my PTs and PT students out there but in all seriousness I would say that this is probably way more weight than anyone ever needs to do with a Jefferson Curl and there is probably way more risk than reward at this point. #physicaltherapy
But he literally worked up to this weight, he didn’t spawned with that strength, that’s kinda demonizing it😭🙏

So basically just like any other muscle group? Idk why people don’t comprehend that muscle growth and strengthening doesn’t change just cause it’s a different muscle group.

i think the example powerlifter video was a misrepresentation of your argument as that injury was more so caused by anabolic steroids leading to more output then the tendons can handle

It should be noted power lifters chances of injury are higher on meet day then their whole training cycle leading up to it. Really the chance of injury is directly proportional to proximity to failure.

What if you do something like a back extension with a straight spine? Would that allow you to strengthen the muscles without putting unnecessary force on the spine?

I S.J. Jefferson every day with low weight. Game changer. Wouldn’t do it with any heavy weights tho. Max 40kg maybe

As someone who fucked up their lower back in college, the slow loading of large range of motion lifts will save your life.

It’s just like any other lift, if you do too much weight that you can handle you’ll get hurt. It’s not anymore dangerous than other lifts

There has to be better, safer exercises to strengthen the back than a Jefferson curl

My assumption would be to assume about 1/3-1/2 of your body weight would be the tipping point. Like just going off logic anyway since the muscle is already lifting generally about 1/2 of your body mass already so adding an extra 25 when you weight 100 feels like a safe range

My question is why do you need to be strong in end range flexion?

I fixed my Lower back injury by doing these. I tried to let it heal for like 8 months prior by avoiding bending, didn’t help.
