Bro you using a closeout game to use as an example. These two teams know each other, they had played each in 2 finals in a row. What you are seeing is strategy! what you are seeing is two teams running plays! what you aren't seeing is foul baiting, you aren't seeing traveling or carrying, and you aren't seeing 603-pointers hoisted every second! basketball does have x's and O's! The game has evolved. I will agree but as an old head I'm not sure it's evolved for the better. thanks for posting.

I grew up watching this. It's not as good as people want you to believe. Most of the physical play came from the fact that spacing sucked. Every one is below the three point line.

when i watch 80s and 90s defense, id say 75% of the game, the defense stands around a given area, not much movement or pace. meanwhile modern defense got players switching constantly and basically running around the whoke half court

For this very reason this is why they could play 81 games a season and barely miss time vs now you’ll be lucky to play 65 games with the way pace works now, now is a lot of mismatch hunting, drive and kick, and pick and roll, which isn’t necessarily bad but predictable
