@bekplats: I lost my period for 2 years. Low bodyfat + high training volume + stress + little dietary fat intake + PCOS. This is something not talked about enough in female athletes, bodybuilders, or women in general. Even when I wasn’t stage lean, I was still ‘striation’ lean in between seasons. Little did I know the longer I left it, the harder it was to get back. I had to learn how to recover though Reddit (crazy, I know, but it worked). Specialists and doctors tried to just prescribe me birth control, HRT, metformin, and even starting talking to me about IVF (?? no I didnt want kids just a period ??). It’s all fun and games until low estrogen and testosterone start impacting every aspect of your life. Hormone recovery is HARDDDD especially the longer you leave it. But it’s well worth it, the energy and mental clarity I have rn is UNREAL 😭 Losing your period isn’t the flex you think it is. Lean isn’t strong. Listen to your body. It’s a sign your body literally doesn’t feel safe enough to carry a baby. Competing is all well and good, but prioritise recovery.
