My uncle was on the team that did QC for this engine. They caught this issue in preproduction, but GM didn't want to pay to fix it and then they fired his entire division and replaced them with AI.

All makes and models are junk now days. Between trans issues oil consumption you name it but my ol 02 5.3 293k don’t skip a beat and 04 5.3 279k both I’d drive across country without hesitation!
