That’s not how aerating works. This will just compress the soil. Actual aerators remove the plugs from the ground.

Do yourself a favor and rent an aerator from Home Depot for $200 and save your self hours and hours or work. And it does not cost $3k for service. Maybe $500-$800 depending on the lawn size
