@emendozaaa_: Finally unboxed my Galaxy S26 Ultra and I’m honestly impressed already!! ૮ ․ ․ ྀིა The design and camera look sooo sleek, and I’m excited to start using features like Now Nudge for helpful reminders during the day, Privacy Display when I’m out in public, Photo Assist for quick edits, and of course Nightography for low-light photos. It already feels like such a smart upgrade. I added the pre-order link in my bio if you want to check it out and secure yours too! .☘︎ ݁˖ smsng.us/GalaxyS26UltraTGS @Samsung US #SamsungPartner #TeamGalaxySquad #SecureTheSmarterPhone #GalaxyS26 Ultra #GalaxyS26
Yeah, that pricing looks almost too good at first glance. The short answer: the phone isn’t really $5/month—Verizon spreads the real price out and then gives you monthly bill credits that make it look cheap. Let me walk you through the mechanics.
1. The real financing
A $1,299.99 phone financed over 36 months normally looks like this:
$1,299.99 ÷ 36 ≈ $36.11 per month
So that’s the actual installment you’re agreeing to.
2. The promotional credit
To get you to stay with them, Verizon Communications applies monthly promo credits.
Example:
Phone payment: $36.11
Verizon promo credit: −$31.11
What you see on your bill: $5/month
So the math works like this:
You pay: $5 × 36 = $180
Verizon credits you: $31.11 × 36 ≈ $1,119.99
Total phone value: $1,299.99
3. The catch (there are a few)
Those credits come with strings attached:
You must keep the line active for the full 36 months.
If you cancel early:
Remaining phone balance becomes due immediately.
You lose the remaining credits.
Example:
If you leave after 12 months, you’ve only received 12 months of credits. The rest disappears, and you owe the remaining balance.
4. Usually there are other conditions
These promos typically require things like:
A trade-in phone
A specific unlimited plan
Sometimes a new line
Those plan requirements often cost $70–$100+ per month, which is where carriers actually make their money.
5. Why carriers do it
Phone companies learned something:
Lock people in for 3 years and the service revenue dwarfs the phone discount.
So they’re willing to subsidize the device heavily.
✅ Bottom line:
You can get a $1,299 phone for about $180 out of pocket, but only if you stay with Verizon for the full 36 months and meet all promo requirements.
