Please like, comment, and SHARE! 🙏 🔍 Episode Overview: At 12:42 AM on August 23, 2024, Officer Edwin Rosario saw a Honda Civic break traffic laws. The car did not signal a left turn from Gore Street to Division Avenue. Officer Rosario turned on his lights and stopped the car. The driver swerved and pulled over near Division Avenue and Anderson. The driver was identified as Benita Feliciano, age 25. While speaking with her and her passenger, the officer smelled burnt cannabis. Benita said they were going home from a friend’s house. She could not explain why she wore a wristband. She denied recent smoking but admitted to drinking alcohol earlier. Benita and her friend gave different stories about their trip. More officers arrived, and Benita was asked to exit the car for tests. Officer Rosario first did the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test. During it, he saw a lack of smooth eye movement. He noted distinct nystagmus at maximum deviation and its onset before 45 degrees. Vertical gaze nystagmus was also observed. Next, she did the Walk and Turn test. Benita failed to touch heel-to-toe, turned poorly, and took the wrong steps. Finally, she did the One Leg Stand test. Benita did not raise her foot right and used her arms to keep balance. Based on traffic violations, the cannabis smell, and failed tests, Officer Rosario arrested Benita for driving under the influence. A car search found an open White Claw can. Benita was taken to the Orange County DUI Testing Center. She refused to give breath samples after a 20-minute wait. She was then taken to the Orange County Jail.
