@aozorajapaneseonline: Have you heard "おしるし(Oshirushi)" at the cashier? In Japan, "おしるし(Oshirushi)" is the polite form of "しるし(Shirushi)", which means a "mark" or "proof." 🏷️✨ At the register, it refers to a small piece of tape put on a product as a "proof of purchase" when you don't need a plastic bag. Key Phrase: こちら おしるしで よろしいでしょうか? "Koshira oshirushi de yoroshii deshouka?" (Is it okay to just put a mark/tape on this?) How to answer: ❌🛍️ No bag needed: "はい(Hai)" or "はい、だいじょうぶです(Hai, Daijoobudesu.)" ⭕️🛍️ Need a bag: "あ、すいません、ふくろ、おねがいします。(A, suimasen, fukuro onegaishimasu)." #japanese #nihongo #studyjapanese #japaneseteacher #learnjapanese

It's funny, おしるし was the only word I didn't know, but I couldn't understand any of it. Then after explaining おしるし I could easily understand the whole sentence 😆
