My headcanon: In the prison arc, Zam always hallucinating about the ghost of Wemmbu, a glorious, brutal Wemmbu, a Wemmbu who was once her comrade. By the way, Wemmbu really likes his hair; he grows it long and always takes good care of it (Zam also likes Wemmbu's hair). During their escape from Clown's prison, while resting, Zam asked if she could touch Wemmbu's hair. She asked jokingly, not thinking that Wemmbu, who cherishes his hair like a treasure, would agree. And he actually agreed! Anyway, besides Egg, Zam is the only person Wemmbu lets touch his hair. Plus, during their time in prison, Zam developed a bit of a adoration for Wemmbu's hair… So when she met Wemmbu in his most disheveled and pathetic state, with his proud hair haphazardly cut off, Zam didn't feel the fear or satisfaction she expected. Her hair wasn't too long, so besides confiscating her old clothes and belongings, there was no need to cut it (Zam believed that cutting Wemmbu's hair was also a way for Lettuce to trample on his honor). “Do you regret it?” “No, at least I didn’t lose my life.” “But I regret it.” Zam knew Wemmbu’s claim of not regretting it was false, for his slightly trembling hand had long since betrayed its owner. She was silent for a moment, then picked up the sickle she hadn’t put away since returning from labor and raised it. Wemmbu, anticipating revenge, closed his eyes and waited. A soft swish echoed in the damp prison cell. His hand felt… her hair.
