@luaandstone: How I get a smooth cement mix every time… I mix and mix and mix. I start by mixing with a spatula first. Once the mixture reaches a pancake-batter consistency, I switch to a small whisk to break up any lumps. The whisk works so well, but it does create air bubbles — so after that, I go back in with my spatula and mix for about 30 more seconds. Next step is VERY important: I let the mix sit for about a minute before pouring. This gives any trapped air bubbles time to rise to the surface and pop, resulting in fewer air bubbles in your final piece. Cement is a tricky material, but these small steps make a big difference.
